Keep Your Prefabricated Chimney Protected With A Quality Chase Cover!

Prefabricated chimneys are often simple metal chimneys with a chase surrounding them. The chase is designed to protect the chimney flue metal piping components, but they still leave an opening at the top where rain, snow, sleet, leaves, and other debris can enter and cause damage. That’s why you need a quality chase cover.

Much like a chimney crown, the chase cover helps keep moisture away from the top of the flue, preventing water damage in your chimney and home. Your prefabricated chimney should have come with a chase cover, but oftentimes, stock chase covers are composed of galvanized metal, which can quickly rust and corrode.

How Do I Know If My Chase Cover Needs To Be Replaced?

There are several signs that your chase cover may be damaged and in need of replacement. Most homeowners notice the primary thing is rust or staining on the chimney chase or side of the house. This is a sign that the chase cover has begun to deteriorate; the staining is caused by rusting metal.

Some homeowners may notice a chimney leak. A chase cover that has been damaged or is not properly fitted will allow water into the chimney, resulting in water in the flue or firebox, a musty or dank smell in the chimney, or even water damage to walls and ceilings around the chimney.

Custom Chase Covers

We will custom build a new stainless steel chase cover for your prefabricated chimney. This process yields the result of a chase cover specially designed and fitted for your home, minimizing the chance of leaks. In addition to making sure your chase cover perfectly fits your chimney, we also offer chase covers in a wide variety of colors and styles. This allows you to find the perfect chase cover to blend in with your home and neighborhood's existing style.

Details

Summary: 316ti stainless steel custom made Chase Cover up to 36" long (SM), 2 visits, 2 technicians onsite 3-5 man-hours total.

Day 1 - 2 technicians arrive and safely access all four sides of our chimney to take 11 measurements. Measurements are sent to our chase cover manufacturer in New York. After 5-8 business days depending on seasonal demands, the custom made chase cover arrives and is sorted at our inventory facility to be loaded onto the truck for install. Additional pieces are kept on our install trucks incase they require replacement during the chase cover installation at no additional costs, this includes various sized storm collars.

Day 2 - 2 technicians safely access your chimney to remove the cap/s, storm collar/s, and old chase cover which covers and makes up the construction for the entire top of your chimney. The wood trim below the chase cover may or may not require shimming or replacement due to rotting at no additional cost to you. Once the top of the chimney surface is level, the new chase cover is installed, existing storm collar and cap are reinstalled, and your chase cover maintains a lifetime warranty, requiring no future maintenance.

What makes chase covers so expensive?

We get this question a lot. The 4 main reasons are (1) customization, (2) 2 visits to your home with two install technicians (3) common manufacturing hiccups (4) unforeseen problems on top of the chimney once your old chase cover is removed.

(1) Customization - A Generic chimney cap is mass produced with a material cost of ~1/7th the material cost of a custom made chase cover specifically made for your house. Chase covers are large and usually individually shipped, increasing their material costs. Customers and home inspectors often refer to a chase cover as a "Chimney cap" which is not the case. Chase covers are literally the entire top of your chimney and are custom made.

(2) 2 visits, 2 technicians onsite
